Dear Mr. Sillam’s class,
My name is Mrs. Spata and I am a fourth grade teacher at Tackan Elementary School. We are working very hard preparing for the New York State tests as I am sure you are too. I was hoping that you would be interested in becoming our “Blogging Buddies”. We want to mix some fun with all our hard work. 
Back when I went to school, there was no internet. There was no email and no blogs. If I wanted to communicate to someone far a way I needed to write them a letter. I would mail it to them with a stamp on the envelope. It would take a few days to get to my “Pen Pal”. Then I would have to wait for a letter back.
You have the great opportunity to use a blog to write to a friend. Once your comment is approved by a teacher, it is posted for the entire world to see. Your blogging buddy will be able to read your letter that same day! Then they can write you back quickly.
Mr. Sillam will match you up with a student in my class. Please remember that this is a school blog. Complete sentences, correct grammar and punctuation, and school appropriate topics are required.
